Iontophoresis is the effective treatment offered by shubham skin clinic at Pune Sinhagad road for hyperhidrosis (Excessive sweating).
It is a treatment used extensively worldwide that passes mild controlled ‘Micro’ electrical currents into the skin in areas where excessive sweating is a problem. The current is transferred to the body in most cases using simple tap water alone. Common problem areas are the underarms, hands and feet, face and neck, but Hyperhidrosis can affect any part of the body.In iontophoresis mild electrical current is produced through a machine and it is delivered through electrodes to patient’s body area of excessive sweating. This current acts on sebaceous glands causing excessive sweating and slows down the secretion of sweat glands. In this way patient can get rid of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). It is a simple and pain free procedure.
In this procedure patient has to place his both hands and feet on metal plates kept in water filled tray attached to iontophoresis machine with electrodes. Then machine is put on and slowly the power of flowing electric current is increased for specific time and kept stable for some time and then decreased in a particular time.Other areas of the body can be treated just as easily by applying tap water soaked accessories to the relevant body part that is affected by Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Both palms and feet are commonly treated as it is very common to have excessive sweating in palms & feet. But with iontophoresis other body areas like axilla (Under arms), face & neck can also be treated.
Iontophoresis is done in 30-40 minutes. Time duration may vary as per the body area.A series of short 10-15 minute treatments are made daily for the first 3-5 days after which treatment times are expanded to weekly, fortnightly and then monthly sessions.Results may vary individually.
